John Stuart and Nancy Lassetter: International Ministries
About Us
Stuart Lassetter and his wife, Nancy, were both born in Mississippi and reared in Baptist homes. They were married in 1965. In 1974, both the Lassetters received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit, were baptized in Jesus' Name, and became the first family in a newly founded United Pentecostal Church in Richmond, Kentucky.
The Lassetters received a call to missions in 1979, and were appointed as missionaries to Colombia, South America, in 1981, while he was an associate professor at Eastern Kentucky University and pastor of the church in Richmond. Nancy is a former child welfare worker.
After a year of traveling to raise funds and another year of language study in Costa Rica, Central America, the Lassetters and their three daughters, Anne, Amy, and Carrie arrived in Colombia, South America, in 1983. During their first missionary term, Rev. Lassetter was involved in establishing the Bible School in Cali and helped in its construction. He served as a Bible School teacher, taught seminars and pastor's studies, and preached. Nancy also taught in the Bible School and helped in training pastor's wives.
In 1986, the Lassetters transferred to Ecuador, South America where he served as field superintendent and president of the Bible School. Rev. Lassetter was involved in seminars, Bible School teaching, leadership training, and administration. Nancy was involved in training and seminars with pastor's wives and Ladies Auxiliary leaders. The Ecuadorian church matured and grew from 6,000 to 18,000 constituents, and in the year 2000, the leadership responsibility
was transferred to Ecuadorian leaders and the National Board. Ecuador is now a nationalized work.
In 2001, the Lassetters were appointed to an International Teaching Ministry. Now, in 2004, after 24 years of missionary service and in their fifth term, the Lassetters are devoted to international teaching and helping develop national leaders. They have taught leadership seminars in countries in South America, Europe, Africa, Asia, the Pacific, and the Caribbean. He presently serves as International Coordinator for Foreign Mission's Special Ministry, Leadership Development International (LDI) and served as Regional LDI Coordinator for South America from 1998 to 2004. Brother Lassetter has written Manna from Moses, a leadership book with 101 principles from Moses' ministry, available in English and Spanish.
